Yesterday was a busy day. I had my first day of outpatient physical therapy since receiving a partial hip replacement. I was exhausted. I used muscles that haven't been used for a LONG time. I came home and relaxed on the recliner with an ice pack.
Eventually my cucumbers started calling to me. So I cleaned and chopped cucumbers, peppers, and onions for relish. I was very thankful to Little M. for the help with cleaning and chopping of the cucumbers. It always wonderful to have a helper or two.
While the veggies were soaking in salt, hubby drove me to a nearby organic farm to pick up some produce. For $25.00 I got 30 lbs. of canning tomatoes, 1 head of cabbage, 4 peppers, 5 lbs. of potatoes, and 1 eggplant. I was even given a beautiful bouquet of sunflowers. Lovely!
When we returned home hubby, helped me finish canning the relish. I ended up with 7 pints.
This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it! Psalms 118:24

Let the Canning Begin
I did can one batch of chicken this spring, but it is now officially canning season.
Last Friday with the help of the kiddos we canned sweet dill pickles. This is Super Granny's recipe. I have always loved them. I hope to give these as Christmas presents this year.
Last evening we picked another bagful of cucumbers. Next on the list is cucumber relish.
