Sportsman Show

Hubby took the 2 youngest on a field trip to the PA Sportsman Show last week.  They know I have a fear of reptiles, so they always make sure to get at least 1 picture of them for me.

The alligator's name is Chunk.  Does this mean he took a chunk out of someone's arm?

New Babies!!!!

Gladys hatched out 3 new babies yesterday!  She is still sitting on 4 more.  They all seem to be healthy and strong.  They will grow up to be green egg layers.

Gladys was so patient with us excited humans.  She is a good Momma.
For youngest daughter, this was the ultimate homeschooling experience.  We just studied embryology.

Sunny Days

We have been enjoying some beautiful sunny days.  It went from the 20's last week, to the 80's this week.  Lots of time has been spent outdoors hanging up laundry, making sun tea, starting a garden, and enjoying the animals.

The girls are off of their "winter vacation" and have started laying eggs again.  The littlest farmers have started their egg business.  They are dividing up their earnings and saving it for their future.  What a wonderful homeschool lesson in math.  We are also eating lots of eggs........deviled, red beet, quiche, omelets.  I am hoping to try a few new recipes such as ice cream, homemade mayo.

School Days

Today was our first day of school.  I must say, I am glad its over.  The first few days are always a little difficult for me until I get into a routine.

The farmers love to get new school supplies.  It helps to get them excited for back to school time.

Our curriculum is My Father's World.  First grade for Pussycat.
Creation to the Greeks for Rowdy and Cupcake  (4th grade and 7th grade).
I love this curriculum.  It is nicely laid out and we are learning the same things at the same time.
