Falling Leaves Wall quilt

Last night I finished a Falling Leaves ( also called Autumn Splendor)  wall  quilt.  I made the blocks 4 years ago and they sat in my sewing room since then.  I have always loved this pattern.   Last night the girls and I took it over to give to  Mom.

Butterfly Quilt Finished

With some help from Little M.  The butterfly quilt is finally finished.  Just in time for cooler nights.

The patched butterfly blocks and borders are stitched in glow in the dark thread.

Spring?

I thought the calendar said yesterday was the 1st day of spring, but it sure doesn't feel like it.  It was very breezy and in the 40's.  At least it was mostly sunny.   I was able to wash all the laundry and hang it outside.  It smells so wonderful when its line dried.

Flip and Lilly decided they wanted to take a walk in the yard.  They were eating up some leaves from the yard and flower beds.

After a  leisurely stroll it was time to head back into the barnyard.

Thirteeen

Hard to believe, but our boy turned 13 today.  The years keep going so fast.  He says he will live beside me and isn't going to get married.  He wants to raise chickens and beagles.  Maybe I can get him to sign a contract before he changes his mind.  He's a good boy.  I don't ever want him to leave.
Last night we had Pappy, Mammy, and Super Granny over for pizza, cake, and ice cream.

This morning his breakfast per request was 2 fried eggs with bacon and cheese.  We served him his breakfast in bed.
Waking up under his new quilt!

His gift was a bow and arrows set.  After breakfast, he and little M. went out to try it out.

I looked out and the barnyard and what did I see?  Daddy resting with the goaties!  I know that he really does love the goats, even if he won't admit it.

More Projects

When one quilt is done, I must start another one or two or....well,  I don't think I can just do one project at a time.

The first one is a table runner.  The second will be a butterfly quilt for Little M.  She loves butterflies and birds.  I bought both a bird and a butterfly stencil.  She said she is going to help with the quilting.

Spring?

Yesterday was so beautiful.  Temps in the 70s.  My 3 loads of wash dried quickly.  The kiddos and I even found time to go for a walk.  I need to do that more often.  I was huffing and puffing up the hills.
The animals enjoyed the sun too.  Flip lounged around on top of his wooden spool, sunbathing.

Lilly roamed around and talked to the chickens.
Petey loved the grass between his toes.

Sunny and Jonah played and then slept.

The day was enjoyed by all.  Today it is a little dreary.  It is supposed to be rainy and windy.  A wind chill of -1 is forecasted for tomorrow.  So far March has been a roller coaster ride.

WooHoo! The Bear Paw Quilt is Done!!!!

I am so glad the Bear Paw Quilt is finally done.  I started it in December 2012.  I did do a few other projects in between.  My son said , "Mom, I would really like my bear paw quilt for my birthday." His 13th birthday is this Saturday.  The pressure was on but I think it is pretty special that my almost teenager is interested in a quilt made by his momma.  I am so glad it is finished.  I washed it and it is hanging out on the line.

Blue Bird Palace

Our anniversary celebration continued on into the weekend.  We invited over some friends from our church who were also celebrating their anniversary.  The kiddos transformed the dining room into The Blue Bird Palace.

We forgot to take a picture of us enjoying our meal.  We had chicken alfredo, salad, pumpkin pie, cherry cheese pie, and peach pie.  Yum!  Our waitresses and chef did a great job.  I can't wait to eat there again!

A Weekend Away

Hubby and I had a wonderful weekend away.  We are celebrating our 19th wedding anniversary this week.  I pray for many more beautiful years.  We left Friday morning and started the day with breakfast at Shady Maple Smorgasbord.  It was delicious as always.  I even bypassed the doughnuts!

After breakfast there was quilts to see.  This was one of the beauties.
We took our time and shopped the outlets and even a few quilt shops.  I practiced restraint and only bought batting for my next quilt project.  Then we checked in at the hotel.  My kiddos wanted pictures of our room.

Hi Handsome.  You are the best part of the room.

After changing and resting, we went to Dutch Apple dinner theater for a show.  We saw Caught in the Net.

The next morning, we enjoyed a leisurely breakfast at Loxley's, in our hotel.  They had a delicious breakfast buffet.  Then a few more shops and back home.  I love being at home, but we had such a fantastic time away.
Happy Anniversary Honey.  I love you.

59 Degrees!!!!

We may still have a foot of snow in the yard, but today it is 59 degrees.  I sat outside in the fresh and warm air.  What a treat after this long winter.  Snow or not, I was determined to hang out the wash.  Nothing beats line dried clothes.
Hubby washed the salt and dirt off of the cars.  Little M.  even had Flip and Lilly out to play.  Once the treats were gone they ran back to the barnyard.
Hello my beautiful babies!
We are trying to soak up as much sun as we can.  It is forecasted to snow again tomorrow night and back to freezing temperatures.
